What is the best suggestion for acne treatment?

I have had mild acne for a few years now, I am currently 17...almost 18, and in the past 6 months or so it has gotten very bad. I clean my face every morning and night with soap and have used products such as Proactive and Clearasil but nothing had gotten rid of it. Any suggestions on something that might help me out?

Also, can lack of sleep have any effect on acne because I only average about 6 hours per night.|||Well, definitely see a dermatologist.

But I%26#039;ll tell you what I did. I had acne since my teens all the way to my 30s until I picked up a book called the %26quot;Acne Cure.%26quot; It uses basic acne products used within a different protocol.

What you%26#039;ll need.

2 to 3 % salicylic acid (i.e., Clean and Clear)

2 to 3 % benzoyl peroxide (don%26#039;t use 10%, it%26#039;ll burn your skin)

8 to 10% glycolic acid

ice pack or something similar

PM before bed:

Splash your face w/ warm water. Put a little water in your palm. Squeeze a small dab of salicylic acid gel in your palm. Swirl the gel with the water and then wipe your face with the diluted gel. A minute later (after brushing your teeth or whatever), wash it off. Then take an ice cube and wipe it on your face to cool off the face (I usually skip this part). Put some water in your palm and put a small dab of 2 to 3 % benzoyl peroxide in it and swirl it around your palm. Place the diluted peroxide on your face. Lay down and for ten minutes place the cold pack on your face. After 10 minutes, wipe off the peroixide off your face with a dry towel, and go to sleep w/ the rest of the peroxide on your face.

AM:

Again, like above, apply the salicylic acid on the face. Wash it off, dry your face with a towel and apply the 8 to 10% of glycolic acid to your face. After a minute, wash it off.

You should see progress right away; however, if you have a chronic condition (which you seem to have), the acne will disappear but new acne will appear, and this cycle will repeat itself over and over again. To keep up, you%26#039;ll have to repeat the protocol everyday. The doctor who wrote the %26quot;Acne Cure%26quot; said you would have to do the protocol for six weeks (I think it was six weeks). For me, it took about 2 months.

Some notes:

If you can%26#039;t find 8 to 10% glycolic acid or if you find the acid is too irritating, stick to the PM routine and repeat it in the AM.

You should use a cold compress that%26#039;s comfortable. My favorite is the ACE reusable cold compress which you can buy at Target. It%26#039;s blue colored and has a soft surface. If it%26#039;s too cold after you take it out of the freezer, just rinse with temperature water first or let it sit out for 10 minutes before using.

Because you%26#039;re applying glycolic acid on your face, wear oil-free sunscreen or a hat when you go outside. Any moisturizer should be oil free also. Personally, any type of cream makes me break out so I use Twinlab Na-Pca as a moisturizer. It%26#039;s like spraying water on my face.

You can find this treatment on the Internet including the link below.|||acne is caused by sebum (oil) and the bacteria that eats it not by lack of sleep. If you have mild acne that is persistent it is probably genetic and not caused by lack of sleep. Genetically your body might just start getting worse acne as you get older but it will eventually go away. See a dermatologist if you want your acne to get better, most products you buy at the store are gimmicks and don%26#039;t work and cost too much.

Proactive is $20 a prescription for accutane is $8 if you have health insurance and proactive is the same as all the other stuff only in a package so they jack the price up for no reason and won%26#039;t work that well if you have a serious acne problem|||yes sleep definatly has an effect on your acne!

I recently went away and got about 3 hours of sleep in two nights. i dont usually break out on my cheecks but oh did i ever that time!

what i used was nivea visage young CONTROL shine. the acne went away the next day.

also. if u are using regular soap for your face, you might want to switch that for something like olay daily face cloths. they are a lot more sensitive to your skin :)

hope that helpd and good luck!

Accutane was the only thing that was able to help my acne|||hi. there%26#039;s some good info and solutions at the site below, including inexpensive and %26#039;natural%26#039; treatments. there are some very good, guaranteed products available, as well, depending on your budget.

Lack of sleep, along with other symptoms that cause physical and mental stress or drain can all increase your chances for acne, as a lot of things.

Some common over the counter topical medications for mild acne are:

Benzoyl Peroxide - helps reduce bacteria, and reduces oil production, but may dry out your skin if used alone.

Resorcinol, Salicylic acid, and Sulfur and all help break down whiteheads and blackheads. Salicylic acid also helps unclog pores, because it cuts down shedding of the cells lining the hair follicles.

Over the counter (OTC) topical medicines are fairly effective in treating acne if they%26#039;re used regularly. But, it can take up to 8 weeks before you see noticeable improvement, and they can increase your skin sensitivity to the sun, so use a sunscreen when using them.

There are a lot of things that create or worsen acne: hormones, diet, environment, genes, stress, oily or heavy makeup, abrasive cleaners, even over-use of vitamins, medicines, and steroids. There are some vitamins that help acne if ou don%26#039;t over-use them, including Vitamin A.

In my research, I%26#039;ve found a couple of new acne treatment systems that work very well, one less expensive than the other. They both have guaranteed results or your money back, and have great feedback and testimonials from users. You can check them out at the info site below. One is %26quot;Acne Free in 3 Days%26quot;, and the other is a revolutionary new acne treatment system that treats your acne from the inside out, has no side effects, and is dermatologist recommended with guaranteed results. It goes to the source of the acne, and not only removes your current breakout, but helps prevent future breakouts that you don%26#039;t even know you have yet! This system called, %26quot;Acnezine%26quot;, is a natural acne treatment system that heals blemishes including spots, whiteheads pimples, redness, pus, and blackheads. It works for adults %26amp; teenagers by providing antioxidants that help eliminate the %26#039;free radicals%26#039; that can cause acne. This system is safe and effective, and works to cleanse the entire body. With this system, you don%26#039;t have to continue to use topical medicine indefinitely to continually fight the acne, as it will help keep new blemishes from forming.

Its ingredients include organic leaf and other extracts including aloe vera, birch, green tea, orange, neroli fruit, lemon peel oil, witch hazel, honey, tea tree leaf oil, willow, sage, sugar cane, and bilberry. It also includes a high percentage of daily required vitamins including Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, and E.

I would check both of these out, as well as the information and other natural solutions available, and let me know your results. I hope this helps!|||The best solution you can possibly use for acne is by going to walmart and purchasing two things- One being ZINC pills 50mg- they are $2.37 for 100 tablets. Take one a day. One tad bit of advice- take it in the evening with dinner-too much zinc in your system will make you sick... It does take roughly three weeks to get into your blood stream- but I can guarantee it will work. You%26#039;ll see more results from taking that then you would by spending hundreds of dollars on dermatologist. Second thing is to get Acne Free and use it faithfully everyday. Once in the morning- and once before you go to bed. Also in the evening wash your face with a washrag- take a cotton pad with a little bit of 70% rubbing alcohol and wipe your face- that gets all of the excess dirt- etc that plain water wont get. Continue with your acne free. If you notice that using rubbing alcohol is drying out your skin- dilute it with water. Also if you choose use Cetaphil lotion- it will not cause acne. Within one month you should be on the road to clearer skin- and as long as you keep up on the zinc pills it wont come back. Small price to pay to have clear skin!
